This is one of those recipes that is SUPER easy and DELICIOUS! The best kind of recipe if you ask me. I have no idea why it’s called Neiman Marcus Dip though. I can only assume it originated from a Neiman Marcus cookbook, but I don’t own one, so I am not for sure. But what I do know is that it’s a crowd pleaser. I have tested this hypothesis time and time again without fail. I mean, how could you go wrong…bacon-mayonnaise-cheese! Hell yeah! So join me in making this tasty appetizer with a mysterious name!
8 oz. cheddar cheese, shredded
1 1/2 cups mayonnaise
3 oz. jar of Hormel Real Bacon Bits, or 3 oz. bacon, cooked, drained, and crumbled
4-5 green onions, sliced thinly
2 oz. package slivered almonds
Mix all ingredients well and chill. Serve with Ritz or other crackers of your choice. It’s also great with Fritos.
If you want to make this a day in advance, it’s best to leave the onions and almonds out until shortly before serving to avoid them becoming soggy.
This recipe is so simple, there’s not a lot of explaining to do, but I did want to share one little kitchen trick I use quite often. Instead of measuring out 1 1/2 cups of mayonnaise, and having to dirty a measuring cup (because heaven forbid I have to thrown one more thing into the dishwasher), I dust of my old brain and use some of my 1st grade math skills. 1 1/2 cups equals 12 ounces, am I right? So I get my scale out and scoop mayonnaise into my bowl until it totals 12 ounces. Wham! Easy peasy, and one less thing to clean up! You’re welcome. Now, that trigonometry homework your middle schooler needs help on…I have no clue. You will have to hire a tutor. But, if you need help figuring out that 1 1/2 cups is 12 ounces, I’m your gal. Now, just mix in the rest of your ingredients and enjoy!
