Need an easy weeknight meal? I gotcha covered. This meal is a regular in our rotation. It’s a great one because you can throw it in the crock pot / instant pot and it’s ready when you are!
I personally skip the bun and use a piece or two of Romain lettuce. It’s more like a Maid Rite boat, or taco, but I actually prefer it to the bun!
2 lbs lean ground beef (93/7)–The meat cooks in it’s own juices, so you will definitely want lean beef
1 cup water
2 Tbs apple cider vinegar
2 Tbs Worcestershire
1 Tbs Coconut Aminos (or soy sauce)
2 Tbs coconut sugar (or brown sugar)
1 Tbs dried minced onion
1 tsp beef base (or a beef bullion cube)
1 tsp chicken base (or a chicken bullion cube)
Condiments –We like mustard, ketchup, pickles and lettuce on ours!
Throw all ingredients (except buns and condiments) into a crock pot, stirring to break up the meat and mix the flavors. Cover and cook on high for 1 hour. Uncover and break up the meat with a spatula or spoon. Continue to cook uncovered on high heat for another 2 1/2 – 3 hours until most of the liquid has evaporated. If you’re not ready to eat it in 3 hours, just add some more water and let it continue cook.
Scoop the meat onto a bun (or lettuce leaf), and add your favorite toppings!
