Beckham’s 1st Birthday! Mustache Bash

April 5, 2017

In honor of Beckham’s recent 3rd birthday, I am going back and sharing his past birthdays the same way I did for Chase. This week, I’ll be posting his previous parties, and hopefully soon I’ll be able to share his 3rd birthday party with you!

My little baby boy!  I can’t believe you are 1.

I have to admit, I am not a big fan of the newborn stage.  Those first couple of months are always the hardest for me.  Don’t get me wrong, I love snuggling my sweet babies, but I think the lack of sleep, troubles with breastfeeding, trying to adjust to new schedules, and learning my babies signals just really takes a toll.  At about 5 months, I start to feel like a human again, and things are more fun. They start being a little bit more independent and have such a personality.  So, the 2nd half of the first year just flies by for me.

And, here we are…celebrating his first birthday!  He is such a sweet little guy.  Easy to please, and always happy.  I have enjoyed him so much I can’t stand that he’s growing up so quickly.  But, despite my efforts to freeze time, he turned 1 anyway.  So…of course we had to celebrate in style!  Beckham only got the chance to meet my dad once before he passed away, but he couldn’t stop smiling at my dad’s mustache.  Chase also liked looking at and feeling his mustache when he was little; something about a furry clump of hair that moves when he talks gets little boys to smile and giggle!  So in his honor, I decided to do a “Mustache Bash”!  Since mustaches are apparently trendy right now, it was pretty easy to find cute ideas for the party.

I found some of the mustache items at Hobby Lobby and ordered some from Oriental Trading Co.  For the blue #1, I purchased a cardboard number from Joann’s and then mixed paint and flour to create a textured look.  It turned out really cute!
He was so happy just playing with the balloon for the longest time!

And of course his first birthday would not be complete without a smash cake!  He wasn’t really into making too much of a mess (not complaining), but he definitely enjoyed his first taste of sweet, yummy cake!

Big brother enjoying some party punch.  Recipe for the punch here.

Beckham, we tried very hard and waited a long time to have you in our lives!  We love you so much and can’t even remember what life was like before you arrived.  We are looking forward to so much more fun and watching you grow!
