American Eagle Try On

March 1, 2019
One of my most frequently asked questions is in regards to my overly distressed pair of jeans.  Whenever I post a pic of them, I always get asked where they are from.  I got them at American Eagle…but 3 years ago.  Last year, AE did not have a pair that in my opinion equaled the fabulousness of mine, but this year they came through!  And, they are exactly the same as the originals!  And, American Eagle is currently having their friends and family sale, so most items are 30% off!
I’m sharing these highly coveted jeans and the rest of the goodies I recently tried on below.  Warning, there are lots of awesome finds…and one major dud.

Let’s get this party started!  We may as well start with the queen bee…the Tomgirl jean.  Can I get a standing ovation?  These are the perfect boyfriend jean in my opinion.  They are a cotton/poly blend, so no stretch, have a button fly, and feel like they have been worn and washed 100 times already.  I am 5’6″ and ordered the regular length, but considering I cuff the hem, I could wear the short length too…only the cuff wouldn’t be so wide.
So, let’s talk about sizing on these.  I am usually between a 6 and an 8 in pants.  I ordered both, but the 6 fit me better.  They are made to fit slightly loose, but the 8 was just too baggy and I didn’t care for the areas where it bagged.  If you are between sizes, I would recommend going down.  You should still have that boyfriend fit but without the sloppy feeling.  They also come in a high rise option, but I have not yet tried that one.  And, there are several different Tomgirl jeans available on the website.  But THESE are the winner in my book!
And this camo tee is great!  Soft material, great length, the v neck wasn’t too low cut.  I am wearing a small, and it fits perfectly.  And my shoes are linked HERE.
In this pic above, I am wearing the size 8 Tomgirl jeans,  You can’t really see a difference in the pictures, but there was extra material that bagged on the back of my thighs.  After wearing them a while, the 6 was definitely a better fit for me.
This tie dye tee is from their Soft and Sexy line, which I have always loved.  It has a curved hem, and is slightly shorter than the camo tee.  You may want to size up if you want more length.  I’m wearing a small.
Yes, yes, yes!  I loved this ultra comfy pullover.  It has waffle knit sleeves and a striped texture on the rest of it,  The balloon sleeves are very cute without feeling like you are going to drag them through your cheese dip at the Mexican restaurant.  It was a tad on the short side, so I would size up if you want more length.  I am wearing a small.
This lightweight button up was another win!  So breezy and makes me want to head straight to the beach!  I am wearing a small.  I have it tied in the front, but you can easily wear it plain too.  Other colors and patterns are available.  This was one of my favorite items from this haul!  It’s so dang cute!
I love the look of this shirt with white jeans, but I was not impressed with this pair.  I got so excited to see the Tomgirl jeans in white this year, but they are nothing like their blue counterpart.  The blue ones feel so broken in and buttery, while the white pair was stiff and thick.  They also fit completely different.  I could barely even button the 6, and the 8 was less than flattering.  They will be going back.
This dress is so pretty!  It has thin black pin stripes and two buttons at the waist.  There is a built in slip and also a hook and eye closure to help keep the ladies in place.  I am wearing a small.
This dress is so versatile, and while we are all dreaming of those warm summer days, the reality is we still have a long time until sundress season.  Here are a few ideas of you could prolong the wear of this versatile dress, using items I pulled from my closet!
Speaking of warm summer days, this striped kimono would be a fun coverup!  I love that it can double as a cardigan or a coverup.  It also comes in a neutral stripe if pink isn’t your thing.
I loved the soft colors on this striped windbreaker. It has pockets, a hood, 1/2 zip, and an elastic tie at the waist.  I am wearing a small.
I loved that these distressed midi shorts had patches underneath so you skin won’t show!  They are cuffed and have plenty of stretch.  I personally like to wear my shorts a little bit looser around my thighs, but other than that, this is a great pair of shorts!  They fit true to size, I am wearing an 8.
This pair of shorts was more of an acid wash, which is fun for spring and summer.  It also had patches under the distressing.  The hem was cuffed up one time, which was easy to unroll for those of us who like a little more length.  These sat a little lower on my hips.  I am wearing a size 8.
That’s all folks!  Let me know if you snag anything!  And, I am still on the hunt for some distressed white jeans, so send me all of your recommendations!
